AOAA 60 Plus Degrees in the Dead of Winter

A small group of weekend warriors took advantage of some unusually warm dead of winter weather to take a trip to AOAA to explore some of their ever expanding trail system. Just four Jeeps, all 4 door..2 JKs and 2 JLs made up the group. All were lifted and tire sizes ranged from 34 to 37. None of us are noobies at off roading but none of us are “tear it up” type drivers. We all just enjoy a day with our Jeeps away from pavement.

After visiting the office, checking in and airing down we were ready to head out. We picked a route and set out to see what would come up.

We came across some fun challenges including some steep hill climbs, rock gardens and lots of mud.

Toward the end of the day we came across a guy walking alone, he looked a bit tired and concerned. We stopped and he said he was on his quad, alone mind you, and he managed to get it stuck. We offered to help and after a little winch action he was under way.

This was a perfect day really and needed by us all.

Get out and explore AOAA, it’s an amazing park that keeps expanding. The people there as well as the town are very welcoming and supportive of the place.
