Identifying a CJ. Is it a Renegade, Laredo, or Something Else

QUESTION: I recently bought a 1979 CJ-7 with 304 auto trans, Dana 20 transfer dual shift transfer case. VIN J9F93EH816050.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT OPTIONS PACKAGE THIS JEEP IS….Laredo, Golden Eagle, etc…it has custom paint so cant tell that way.  It does have a clock and a tachometer that looks original on the dash. I read somewhere that this could be a Laredo option….any insight or advice on how to confirm?

ANSWER: Unfortunately the VIN never indicates the model details on a Jeep.  CJ’s that have a factory clock and tach are usually special models but near any of the special models may have had that equipment.
