Screw Drivers

A variety of screwdrivers should be in every Jeeper's garage.  Screwdrivers have their obvious purposes but can also be used as many other things.  Examples of alternative screwdriver use; make-shift pry bar, electrical terminal jumper, stake, chisel, scraper, etc...  Using a screwdriver for another purpose can sometimes damage the tool but we all do it.

Types

There are stubby to extra long sizes and many head varieties possible.  The illustration displays common screw head types.  Flat (a), Phillps (b), Pozidrive (c) Torx (d), Hex or Allen (e), Robertson (f), Tri-Wing (g), Torq-Set (h), Spanner (g).

Recommendation

The more you have the easier you will find the right one for the job.  Short lengths to long strong screwdrivers should cover all the bases.  Torx and Hex/Allen head drivers would be the most common to find on a Jeep with exception to the Phillips and Flat.  We find it easy to purchase a screwdriver set from one of the many quality tool manufacturers.

Screwdrivers with removable bits are very convenient to carry along with the trail equipment.  This allows a single tool to fit a variety of purposes.
