Pry Bar / Crow Bar / Crowbar

NorthernTool.com crowbar set

A crowbar or pry bar is a lever used for forcing apart two objects.  Typically the bar is constructed from medium carbon steel, has a handle and a flattened end.  Some have dual heads that allow leverage to be applied in different movements or directions.
A lever increases the force that can be applied on an object, the longer the crowbar handle the more force can be applied with less effort.

The illustrated NorthernTool.com rolling head / drift pry bar is an excellent combination of two different tools.  The rolling head design allows access to tight quarters and the drift allows greater force to be applied when trying to align two holes such as leaf spring to mount.

A gooseneck pry bar is another example of a dual head pry bar.  Typically these type are referred to as a wrecking bar.  The curved end head allows for force to be applied at a 90 degree angle.

A flat pry bar that is typically used in carpentry can be handy in the garage.  It is useful in situation where there is minimal space to squeeze a regular pry bar.  The flat bar usually has an area that can be hammered on to aid in completing the work.

Recommendation

Gooseneck and a varying length pry bar set, the flat pry bar is an option.
