Transmission Jacks

A transmission jack is specially designed to aid in the installation and removal of a vehicle's transmission.  These tools typically have a specialized platform that sits on top of the lifting/lowering surface that can securely hold and balance a vehicle's transmission.

Of course these jacks can be used for other purposes such as lifting/lowering transfer cases and axles.

Proper safety must be observed when using a transmission jack.  Be sure that objects are secured to the jack and proper balance can be maintained.

Using a jack with a greater weight rating than needed will ensure the jack is capable of lifting the load and maintaining it safely.  Never work under a vehicle supported by a jack only.  Jack stands should always be used

Recommendation

Certainly this is an option, possibly something best left for a weekend rental.  Unless you pull transmissions and/or transfer cases often you probably do not need this tool.
