TeraFlex 2.5″ Budget Boost Lift Kit for Wrangler JK Install

We decided on a budget lift for the jeepfan.com JK. The JK sees more street than trail for now and the stock ride is nice. The JK Unlimited Rubicon sits good but a little boost will make any Jeep look more stout.

The lift of choice was a TeraFlex 2.5″ Budget Boost, this is a complete kit that requires no modification or drilling. The kit we chose also features special shock adapters so the stock shocks can be reused. The Rubicon is factory equipped with gas charged shocks designed for off road use, it would be a shame to not use them.

We picked up the kit from OK Auto 4WD & Tire in Stewartsville, NJ and dug into the install. First let’s look at what’s in the kit.

The TeraFlex kit consists of the following:

  • Front and Rear Coil Spacers
  • Front and Rear Shock Adapters
  • Front and Rear Bump Stop Spacers
  • All the required bolts, nuts, stickers, and instructions.

We were a bit uneasy about the shock adapters but after inspection the components are very well built and will take trail use.

Some before and after numbers.

We measured some points on the Jeep to get some before and after figures to see how well the kit lives up to it’s lift claim. Typically a spacer lift is very accurate due to the design.

Location Before After
Front Bumper – Screw hole for the front license plate. 21 1/8″ 24 1/8″
Passenger side door opening sill. 18 3/4″ 21″
Rear tow hook – bottom. 23″ 25 1/2″

The lift did net the 2.5″ and then some. I expect it may settle a bit from the springs being stretched out for a while.
